IT WAS a day full of tumbles, splits, lifts and jumps as the acrobatics in the dance section of the Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod got underway.

Dozens of performers, aged 12 and under, from across the south-east made their way to the Ipswich Civic Centre.

There they performed in front of a big crowd with teams dressed as clowns, surf life-savers, dinosaurs and characters from the musical Annie.

Alongside the group acrobatics in the afternoon, yesterday morning saw more group dancing performed, including slow modern jazz and classical ballet.

The evening sessions saw acrobatics and jazz dancing from older groups with the under 29 age group taking to the stage.

The dance section of the Ipswich eisteddfod will conclude tomorrow, with the final under 29 performances running throughout the day.
