Tough competition at Friday's dance solos

THEY may be young, but together their talent made for tough competition at the Ipswich Eisteddfod's dance solos yesterday.

The Jazz Up-Tempo category was hotly contested among the region's nine-year-olds.

Ashleigh Brant, of Queensland National Ballet, received first place for her "beautifully placed kicks, strong incorporation of balance and well-controlled choreography" through her routine titled Shake it Up.

Second went to Lara Bell and Bianca Harris and Isabelle Hancock shared third.
