Damage delays motorway traffic

IPSWICH Motorway traffic was at a standstill Wednesday morning due to significant damage to the road surface.

Police said the speed limit had been reduced to 60km/h, however cars on the Ipswich-bound lanes were backed up for several kilometres from the Tessman Street exit at Riverview.

The alignment of the road had been changed Tuesday night, however it was soon discovered that there were problems with the surface of the new route.

The problems were expected to be fixed by 8pm Wednesday night, with police warning that traffic problems were likely to persist.
