Daily Examiner photographer wins Walkley Award
THE Daily Examiner's photographer Adam Hourigan has been named the winner of one of Australia's most prestigious media awards.
Adam took out the top prize for Community/Regional photography in the Nikon-Walkley Awards for Excellence in Photojournalism.
His portfolio of five photographs was lauded by the judges who commented:
''Adam Hourigan shows strong skills and creativity in a body of work that is both emotive and well-executed. From horse racing at the Clarence River Jockey Club to a lucky escape on the Pacific Highway and a 60th wedding anniversary snuggle in the cinema, Adam's portfolio shows his commitment to providing a small regional newspaper with exceptional imagery.''
We will have a longer story about Adam's achievement in tomorrow's The Daily Examiner, and his award-winning portfolio will feature in Weekend magazine on October 25.
