Ipsiwch teen Barty gives Cibulkova a run for her money

IPSWICH teenager Ash Barty looked set for a huge upset against No.15 seed Dominika Cibulkova on Monday, before being beaten 3-6 6-0 6-1.

Riding high after beating French Open winner Francesca Schiavone in the Hopman Cup, the 16-year-old played outstanding tennis to take the first set, before the Slovak regrouped.

Cibulkova, who lost to world No.4 Agnieszka Radwanska in the final of the Sydney International last Friday, had too much power for the Queenslander who struggled with her service returns and in rallies in the final two sets.

Cibulkova now meets Russian qualifier Valeria Savinykh.
