Cutters take aim at Tweed

THE Skills Training Mackay Cutters are aiming for back-to-back wins when they tackle the Tweed Heads Seagulls on Saturday.

Playing at the special time of 3pm at Virgin Australia Stadium, the Cutters want a repeat performance of their win over Norths Devils at the weekend.

However, they'll be without Cowboys-affiliated player and last week's man of the match, Michael Morgan. Coach Anthony Seibold said Morgan required a minor operation on his foot and would miss this round and possibly next.

Seibold said it was a "big loss" but he was confident with the team the Cutters would field on Saturday.

With Tweed a well-credentialed outfit, Cutters hooker Neil Budworth knows nothing short of the team's best performance will get them the two points.

"Last week's game was particularly fast and of high quality. We know that this weekend will be no different and we must turn up again if we want to build any sort of winning momentum," he said.

"Tweed were the most consistent side last year and with their allocation of Gold Coast Titans players they will be just as strong this year."

Seibold has stressed to his players that there are no easy games in the competition.

"I have played, coached and watched the Intrust Super Cup (or equivalent) over many years and looking at results so far this is easily the closest competition I have seen. Any team on any given day can take the points so it reinforces the need to prepare thoroughly each week and not get ahead of yourself," Seibold said.
