Club offers cut-price golf games

SANDY Gallop Golf Club is offering five dollar games until the end of November as a gesture to show how proud the club is of the course.

The clubhouse suffered $200,000 in damage in the January floods with the course inundated.

"It (five dollar games) is to show that we are up and running and that we are immensely proud of the course," course owner Brett Lawton says.

"I know it is in excellent condition and if people come and have a hit they will be impressed.

"Sixteen of the 18 greens were under water in the floods and we lost everything in the clubhouse with no insurance."

"But the members got right behind the business. Not just helping with the clean up, they have also turned up each week and supported the course.

"This is as good as I've seen the course."

Last night Mr Lawton threw an appreciation evening for his members which included a three-course meal and live entertainment. Mr Lawton picked up the bill himself.
