Brisbane Heat coach Stuart Law wants Pietersen welcomed

BRISBANE Heat coach Stuart Law says his team's fans may need to roll out the welcome mat for controversial superstar Kevin Pietersen on Sunday, December 28.

That's when the Heat will host its first game of the 2014-15 Big Bash League, against the Melbourne Stars.

"The Stars usually bring along a few big names, and if a certain high-profile Englishman happens to be among them, as has been widely speculated in the media, well, I'm sure the Brisbane fans will be looking forward to welcoming him back to the Gabba," Law said.

With his international cricket career all but over, after he was sacked by the English Cricket Board earlier this year, the South African-born batsman has become a gun-for-hire in T20 competitions.

The Heat will begin its BBL|04 campaign in the week leading up to Christmas, travelling to ANZ Stadium to play the Jacques Kallis-led Sydney Thunder on Sunday, December 21.
