Crash driver in hospital

A 59-YEAR-OLD man remains in a critical condition in Princess Alexandra Hospital following a serious traffic accident at Redbank.

Police said the Ipswich man’s vehicle was travelling along Kruger Parade about 10.15pm when it left the road and smashed into a tree.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to free the man from his wrecked sedan. He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening head and chest injuries.

A hospital spokesman yesterday said the man’s condition had stabilised but he was still in the intensive care unit.

Police were unsure of what caused the car to leave the road.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
