Crab races raise nearly $30,000

WITH more than 9000 raffle tickets sold and 25 crabs going to auction, the Tannum Sands Crab Classic fundraiser raised nearly $30,000 for toddler Kelvin Robb.

Around 400 people took part at the hotel squeezing into the beer garden.

The mud crabs sold from between $150 to a whopping $1100.

The action-packed race was described as riveting and the winner was Brett Magor's crab number 3 which won $3000.

Two-year-old Kelvin was at the races with his family and the money will go to help the cerebral palsy sufferer.

Co-organiser Ernie Vaughan thanked Tannum's generosity.
