Councillor the next Bollywood star

COLOURFUL Coffs Harbour City Councillor John Arkan will pop up on the small screen some time next year after trying his luck as a singing, dancing, talking contestant in a new TV reality talent search show, Bollywood Star.

This show, which gives the talent show format a new twist by merging it with an observational documentary, will appear on SBS1 as a four-part series in 2012.

It is being filmed in Australia and in Mumbai, the home of the Bollywood film industry.

Cr Arkan said the company making the series had heard about Woolgoolga's monthly Bollywood Market and had filmed there on Saturday.

He said he took the show's producer to the Guru Nanak temple and to a banana farm and she had filmed sunrise on the whale-watch headland.

"It will be good promotion," Cr Arkan said.
