Man accused of violent home invasion faces court

A MAN accused of carrying out a violent home invasion in Leichhardt has been refused bail.

Grady Michael Rhodes, 21 fronted Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday after being arrested on Tuesday evening following a short police chase down the Ipswich Motorway.

Mr Rhodes has been charged with seven offences including two counts each of armed robbery and deprivation of liberty.

Police will allege Mr Rhodes entered a Casey St home about 12.30pm and confronted the residents a man, 35 and woman, 27.

It is alleged Mr Rhodes, in the company of an unknown accomplice, assaulted the man and women before ransacking the residence.

The two men fled in a suspected stolen silver Holden Commodore before being successfully stopped by police who used a tyre deflation device on the Ipswich Motorway at Redbank Plains.

Police are yet to apprehend the second man and investigations are continuing.
