Court date for attempted robbery

A MAN will face court charged with attempted armed robbery today after an alleged failed hold up.

Police said the 27-year-old accused entered a service station at Wacol about 10pm Wednesday, indicating he had a weapon in his pocket before ordering a staff member to open a safe.

The offender left the store empty handed after the employee activated a silent alarm and asked the man to leave.

The dog squad attended and located a man - allegedly armed with a knife - nearby.

A 27-year-old Aspley man has been charged with attempted armed robbery and will appear before the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
