Council secures bridge project funds

TWO of the region's run-down timber bridges will get a much needed upgrade thanks to a $4 million grant from the Federal Government.

Adams Bridge at Rosevale and Churchbank Bridge at Mutdapilly - both in the Scenic Rim region south of Ipswich - are part of the $7.89 million renewal project.

A third bridge at Christmas Ck, near Rathdowney, is also part of the plan.

The Federal Government Bridges Renewal Program will provide $3.94 of the total cost of the work to be carried out by Scenic Rim Regional Council.

Construction will begin in August and should be complete by March 2017.
