Our sincerest and most heartfelt wishes are with Mayor Steve Jones and his family this morning.

At this stage, Council understands the Mayor remains in a critical condition in intensive care at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The well wishes and messages of support from the community have been overwhelming and we thank everybody for their kind words.

Council would like to recognise the wishes of the family and respect their privacy during this time.

Councillor Tanya Milligan, Deputy Mayor, will represent the Mayor until further notice.

Once Council gets a better understanding of his condition, a further statement will be released.
