What to do with all the Christmas rubbish

WHEELIE bin collection services will remain unchanged during the Christmas holidays.

Council waste spokesman Councillor David Morrison said general, recycling and green waste collection would continue with the only change being the closure of the city's recycling and refuse centres on Christmas Day.

"The centres at Riverview and Rosewood will be open all other days as normal, from 8am to 6pm," he said.

"Ipswich Waste Services also has skip bins available for hire, meaning excess Christmas waste can be disposed of safely.

"Skips are ideal for green, household, business and builder's waste.

"They cannot be used for batteries, fire extinguishers, fuel, oil, poisons and other liquids, gas bottles, paint, paint related products and tyres.

"Asbestos waste bins are also available."

The council is also offering free green waste kerbside collection and access to the Riverview Transfer Station for residents in the areas most affected by Sunday's storm.
