United effort secures district pairs title for bowlers

CONSISTENT Ipswich United Services bowlers Marie Lipp and Tinie Pearce (pictured) recently joined forces to win the Cunningham District Ladies Champion of Champions pairs title.

It was their second big win for the year having taken out the district pairs earlier in April. Their latest opponents were Mary Muller and Andrea Ott, from Swifts.

The Cunningham District Ladies Champion of Champion events were played at Ipswich United Services over three weeks.

The club champions from each club in the district played off to find the district club champion for the year.

Cunningham district covers a large area from Toogoolawah, Rathdowney, Algester and Moorooka. This encompasses a total of 27 clubs.

The state-wide competition allows clubs to play against each club's champions.

The singles was won by Anne Walsh from Yeronga over Lowood opponent Val Jendra.

The fours were between Brisbane based clubs Algester and Salisbury.

Algester were victorious.

All winners advance to the zone playoffs on August 24 at Mudgeeraba.

Zone champions play against the winners from the Gold Coast.
