COMMENT: Scheme brings challenges

PARENTING seems like an incredibly daunting task.

As I don't have children, I can only observe from afar but it's easy to see the challenges seem endless.

Parents of children with disabilities have such a different and unique set of challenges and how to deal with those doesn't come with a one-size-fits-all answer.

So when a well-honed support mechanism is threatened, well it must be an overwhelming experience.

There's no doubt the NDIS has brought a lot comfort to families and clients who now have more control over where funding is spent in their lives.

But the roll-out of any major scheme is going to have teething problems and I suspect issues like the transport one we have covered today will just be the first of many.

Let's hope these kinks get ironed out as quickly as possible so clients and their families can enjoy their newfound freedom.
