Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase set for Ipswich

SOME of the funniest comics in the business are heading to Ipswich for a night of side-splitting hilarity.

The Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase will arrive next Friday, July 4, featuring some of the funniest and freshest acts of Sydney's biggest annual comedy event. The killer line-up of box office-smashing comedians include Tien Tran, Dave Williams, Jacques Barrett, Genevieve Fricker and Rhys Nicholson.

Tien Tran, a Perth-based stand-up was a Triple J RAW Comedy national finalist at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

He performed his debut solo show If You Don't Know, Now You Know to a sold-out crowd at the Perth International Comedy Festival.

Dave Williams has been working in comedy for more than 15 years across Australia and the UK and has been winning awards ever since he started.

Jacques Barrett has been carving up stages with his brand of insightful observational and impressionistic comedy for seven years.

He has been recognised as one of the most promising young comics in Australia with The Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Genevieve Fricker is a Sydney-based comedian and writer who was a national finalist in the 2011 Triple J Raw Comedy competition.

Fricker performs regularly at the Melbourne and Sydney Comedy Festivals as well as Homebake Music and Arts Festival and Harvest Festival.

A Sydney Comedy Store regular, Rhys Nicholson has supported the likes of Louis CK Kathy Griffin and Wil Anderson and is best known for his stylish black comedy and raucous red hair. He won the Best Newcomer award at Sydney Comedy Fest in 2012.

MC for the night will be the hilarious Cam Knight, who is guaranteed to "have you in stitches from the first minute right until the last".
