Colt’s Lucky pay day

AMERICAN FOOTBALL: The Indianapolis Colts have broken an NFL record by signing quarterback Andrew Luck on a new six-year deal worth $US140million.

The 26-year-old becomes the highest-paid player in the competition’s history, with his new pay packet taking his average annual wage ($US23.3m) above the previous record of $US22.1m set by Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens.

“I am thrilled and excited,” Luck said.

The quarterback was drafted to the Colts in 2012 and his new deal will keep him with Indianapolis until the end of the 2021 season.
