Clive Palmer commits $80 billion to hospitals if elected

PALMER United Party's Clive Palmer said the party will allocate $80 billion to Australian hospitals if elected.

Of that sum, $17.5 billion will go to New South Wales.

Richmond candidate Dr Phil Allen has celebrated the news and Mr Palmers' claim the money would bypass state bureaucracy and be paid directly to hospitals.

"This funding commitment for our hospitals in New South Wales coupled with our commitment to develop regional Australia is great news for the people of Richmond, where some of our hospitals are dangerously over stressed, surgical waiting lists are under pressure and in some areas services have been withdrawn or are absent," Dr Allen said.

Dr Allen said the announcement was a welcome relief, claiming that Labor and the Coalition had a long history of failing to keep up with health needs in the Richmond electorate.
