Christmas burglar avoids jail
AN IPSWICH man has been placed on parole after admitting to breaking into a house and stealing property on Christmas Eve.
Cain Dion Sturdy, 25, faced Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday on charges of break and enter and obstructing police.
The court heard he stole jewellery, alcohol and other items from a residence on December 24 last year.
Police later used a cup that was left behind by the offenders to link Sturdy to the crime.
He was on the run until November 19, when police intercepted him at an RBT site on King Edward Pde.
Sturdy was given an eight-month jail term but allowed immediate release on parole.
