Seriously injured worker still critical

LATEST 2PM: AN IPSWICH man who was seriously injured after being crushed in a workplace accident is still in a critical condition.

The 26-year-old Raceview man sustained horrific injuries when a large steel bucket fell on him at Bradken Engineering, at Karrabin, on Thursday.

He was rushed to the PA Hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma.

Police have advised that the man remains in a critical but stable condition today.

He has injuries to his chest, head, legs and back.

 

UPDATE 3PM THURSDAY: A 26-year-old Raceview man is in an induced coma after being crushed in a workplace accident this morning.

Police say the man was conducting repairs on a large bucket at Bradken Engineering, Karrabin, about 10.30am.

The bucket, which is usually used to carry molten metal, fell on top of him, causing life-threatening injuries to the man's chest, head, back and legs.

He has been placed in an induced coma at the PA Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Workplace Health and Safety is investigating.

1PM: Paramedics have rushed a man to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an industrial accident west of Ipswich this morning.

Queensland Ambulance Service says a man has sustained serious injuries following the accident at Bradken Engineering, Karrabin, about 10.30am.

A medivac chopper was called to the area but was cancelled and the man has been taken in a critical condition to the PA Hospital.

Police earlier said the man had sustained injuries as a result of being crushed by a bucket used to carry molten metal.

EARLIER: There are reports of a man suffering serious injuries following an industrial accident west of Ipswich this morning.

Paramedics were called to Bradken Engineering on Karrabin-Rosewood Rd about 10.30am.

A rescue chopper has been called to airlift the 35-year-old man from West Moreton Anglican College.

The extent of injuries is not known at this stage, however police say the man has been crushed by a bucket.
