Chip in to help former Ipswich Grammar School teacher
ALAN Campbell might be home from hospital after a shock accident left him paralysed, but the former Ipswich Grammar School teacher still has a long way to go before he can get back to life as normal.
The quadriplegic, who broke his neck after he fell down the school stairs in April last year, now needs the community's help to fundraise for a modified car to accommodate his wheelchair.
His wife Jackie created the 'Alan Campbell's Disability Car' gofundme page on Monday, which had already raised $5,775 in just 15 hours.
"Alan desperately needs a modified car to accommodate his wheelchair so that he can get out of the house and participate in a few activities but they are very pricey," she said.
"I have been told that the vehicle he needs is nearly $40,000. It is amazing how it all adds up.
"At the moment we can't take him anywhere so this would be a game changer.
"If anyone can make a small donation towards his goal, just maybe we can improve his quality of life. I know it will mean the world to him."
