Chinese to celebrate in city mall

IPSWICH residents should not be too concerned if they see dragons in the city mall on Sunday, as it will be just the local Chinese community celebrating the passing of the Chinese New Year.

Arts, Community and Cultural Services Committee chairman Charlie Pisasale said the celebrations would coincide with a special market day on February 20.

“There will be craft workshops from 8am until midday and a dragon dance at 10.30am,” he said.

There will also be kung fu demonstrations from 10.30am until 11am and samples of Chinese food.

Cr Pisasale urged people to go along and do their shopping at Ipswich City Markets while celebrating the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.
