Chaos after motorbike, car collide

A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital in a serious condition following a collision with a car at a notorious Ipswich black spot last night.

Police said the male rider collided with a car travelling on the Warrego Hwy at Haigslea about 20km west of Ipswich.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 5.20pm with reports the male rider was suffering spinal injuries.

Traffic was at a standstill as emergency workers worked on the injured male and tried to clear the carnage in rainy conditions.

The forensic crash unit was called in and is continuing its investigations today.

The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital about 5.55pm.

Police put diversions from the Walloon turn off in place for traffic travelling west bound.

There were some delays in reopening the roads as crews had to wash away a fuel leak but not long after the man was taken away police opened the westbound lands of the highway.

If anyone has information that could help police, please phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
