Celebrity fashion hits town

AFTER falling in love with Stella McCartney in October, Ipswich fashionistas can now score pieces from the latest celebrity fashion line to hit the city.

West Ipswich discount fashion outlet Trade Secret recently unveiled clothing from the Jessica Simpson Collection.

Store manager Shelley Seeto said the collection currently featured a range of party and casual dresses in colours from teal to fuchsia and black.

Known for her ditzy moments and tumultuous love life, Simpson is a face and name easily recognised.

Mrs Seeto said there was a certain cachet which came with wearing a celebrity label.

“Everyone knows who she is and her style,” Mrs Seeto said.

“It is a talking point for women when they wear the dress.”

Given Simpson’s well-publicised battles with her weight, Mrs Seeto said it was fitting the dresses were sized from six to 18.

“Her weight has fluctuated, so it is nice that girls of all sizes can wear the line and still feel feminine and pretty,” Mrs Seeto said.

Mrs Seeto said the clothing was affordably priced from $49.

“It is priced for the ordinary person,” she said.

Jessica Simpson

The American pop singer came to prominence in the late ’90s as one of a number of teenage pop-idols.

Simpson became internationally recognised for the reality TV show Newlyweds, which she starred in alongside her then husband Nick Lachey.

She made her debut movie performance in 2005 The Dukes of Hazzard.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the Jessica Simpson Collection notched up $US750 million ($766 million) in sales this year.
