Cat Allen Christensen happy to start new life as Lion

BRISBANE Lions recruit Allen Christensen says his move to Queensland was not driven by football or money.

The 23-year-old was unveiled yesterday after the deal which saw pick 21 in next month's National Draft sent to his old side, Geelong, was completed on Monday.

A premiership player with the Cats in 2011, Christensen (pictured) said there were other issues behind his want to relocate but would not reveal what they were yet.

He did, however, say he was "on top of everything".

"I'm in a happy place and I'll just keep working on being a better person and becoming a good Brisbane Lions player," he said.

"I'll come out in time and talk about it because I think I can be a really good role model to the community."

Christensen seems likely to be joined at the Lions by Collingwood premiership midfielder Dayne Beams.

The Magpies look set to receive picks five and 25 and 20-year-old Victorian Jack Crisp in a trade before tomorrow's deadline.

Meanwhile, Michael Voss has returned to coaching, with Port Adelaide.

The former Lions captain and senior coach will join Ken Hinkley's team in a senior assistant role, replacing Phil Walsh, who has taken the reins at Adelaide.

"Joining Port Adelaide is a chance to be part of a fantastic journey with a group of exciting young players," Voss said.

"The brand of footy played under Ken Hinkley and the continued growth of the club over the last two years has been very impressive and I am looking forward to contributing to that journey."
