Car show venue set to shine

ABOUT 9000 car fans are expected to descend on Willowbank Raceway for the Shannons Queensland Auto Spectacular on April 10.

Mayor Paul Pisasale said Ipswich City Council had assisted the partnership with the Buick Car Club of Australia to stage the event at Willowbank Raceway for the next 10 years.

“The event was previously held at the Cleveland Showgrounds in Redlands since its inception in 2000, but owing to the growth of the event and the planned redevelopment of the Cleveland Showgrounds, it was agreed to move the event to Willowbank Raceway in Ipswich,” he said.

“The event is an all-make auto show and organisers have advised that it will be the first to seamlessly combine a high quality auto show with a high quality swap meet.”

Cr Pisasale said the event organisers planned to extend the auto spectacular to a two-day event in future years.

“This event will attract enormous crowds to Ipswich and Willowbank and the city will benefit,” he said.
