Car hits house after driver hits gas not brake

Update: Friday August 22 12pm

ONE Tweed Heads South home is a bit worse for wear after a car crashed through a fence and into a brick wall on Thursday afternoon.

Tweed-Byron LAC Inspector Bobbie Cullen said about 12.30pm Thursday, a 34-year-old Queensland woman hit the accelerator of her red sedan, instead of the break.

Her car subsequently collided with the Lloyd St home, which is understood to be owned by the Department of Housing.

Insp Cullen said it's believed the resident was unable to stay in the home.
