A MALE driver has had a lucky escape after his car crashed into the Maroochy River.

Emergency services were called to Yandina Coolum Road, 8km east of the Bruce Highway, at 12.40pm after reports a black 4WD had crashed into the river.

The male single occupant of the vehicle was extricated from the vehicle and was assessed by paramedics but was uninjured.
