Capture the essence of summer in a photo

IT'S summer, so let's celebrate.

Today we open our annual reader photograph competition - and we're desperate to give a feature-packed Nikon Key Mission 170 camera, worth $579, to one lucky reader.

Simply take a photograph that best expresses what summer means to you and send it to us. Could it be any easier?

Following some rigourous debate in the Queensland Times office earlier this year, Anthony Carle won our competition with this picture of Natural Bridge (right).

Our judge, chief photographer Rob Williams said the photographer used good technique to illustrate the serene environment.

"Anthony has used an ideal shutter speed to illustrate the movement of water, giving his picture a mystical touch," Mr Williams said of the winning entry.

"Who wouldn't feel like a relaxing dip after looking at this great picture?"

Over the duration of the competition, we got hundreds of pictures and some were so good they made the front page. Can you get there this time?

Get your camera, or your phone, out and get snapping.

You can enter by our website, or via email: qt.com.au/iamsummer or ipswich.photo@qt.com.au.
