Cannabis scent makes cops pounce

A WANT-to-be record producer was caught by police in possession of cannabis after they smelt it on him.

Jay Reginald Schloss, 29, pleaded guilty at the Ipswich Magistrates Court to possessing dangerous drugs.

The court heard about 4pm on August 3 Schloss was stopped by police when they could smell cannabis coming from him.

They searched his backpack and found a small amount of the drug inside. He told them he knew he shouldn't have the drug.

He told the court he was currently unemployed, as he was starting up his own record label.

He was fined $400. The drugs were forfeited to the police.
