Bus tour to help fight cancer

ON the surface it is a trip to take in Christmas light displays, but an annual bus tour also helps raise funds for those living with cancer.

This year the Christmas Lights Tour for Cancer took in displays from Brisbane’s west to Goodna.

The trip has been organised for the past four years by Tivoli couple Roland and Tarana Cruice.

Both members of the Ipswich Relay for Life committee, they also form part of relay team Aussies Against Cancer.

Relay For Life is an international event, involving teams of 10 to 15 people walking around a track overnight for 18 hours to celebrate cancer survival and fundraise to fight back against cancer.

Mrs Cruice said the lights tour was one of a number of relay fundraising events held throughout the year.

“These people support us through everything we do, the games day, the golf day. They know where the money goes and that it is to a good cause,” Mrs Cruice said.

The 2011 Ipswich Relay For Life will be held on March 26 and 27.

Anyone wanting to enter a team can contact Cancer Council Queensland on 1300 65 65 85.
