Cambrians to celebrate with a song
IPSWICH'S oldest choir will celebrate 125 years of performance this month.
The Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir was founded as a senior choir in 1886 and is widely regarded as Queensland's longest continuously performing choir.
Since the early years, the group has expanded to include a junior choir, youth choir and show choir.
The Cambrian Show Choir was the newest addition to the organisation, formed just last year.
Two special concerts will be held to mark the 125th anniversary on November 12.
The four choirs usually perform individually, but concert attendees will have the rare opportunity to hear the result of all the choirs combining.
The first performance will be a Devonshire tea afternoon concert which begins at 2.30pm, followed by a wine and cheese evening concert at 7pm.
Tickets cost $15 for adults or concession holders and $10 for school-aged children.
Devonshire tea will be included in the price of the afternoon concert tickets, while wine and cheese will be available for purchase at the evening event from 6.30pm.
The concerts will be held at the Cambrian Centre, 10 South Station Rd, Booval.
Tickets can be purchased at cambrianchoir.org.au or by calling 3288 0125, and must be pre-purchased for the 7pm concert.
