Play fare with Gold Coast tourism

HOW significantly timely is Translink's introduction of a Go-Explorer public transport card for Gold Coast visitors and locals, only applicable in the Gold Coast region.

At $10 a day for adults and $5 for children, unlimited travel on public transport buses and trams at the Gold Coast smacks of favouritism.

Would it have anything to do with the imminent Commonwealth Games in 2018?

For Brisbane and Sunshine Coast tourists, too bad, it doesn't apply outside the Gold Coast, with deliberate discrimination against those visiting further afield.

The Gold Coast isn't the centre of the universe, as many parliamentarians and tourists believe.

Lifestyles of the rich and famous don't apply here, when it comes to genuine value for money.

We all want to share in a fairer fare system.
