Cahn takes step at Central Coast Mariners

FOOTBALL: Ex-Noosa Lions player and coach Ben Cahn has been appointed boss of the Central Coast's National Youth League team and will act as an assistant coach with the A-League squad.

The 28-year-old arrived on the Central Coast at the start of the 2016 season to lead the Central Coast Mariners Academy and help develop the next generation of stars at the club.

He helped plenty of the club's prospects forge their way in the game but now the aspiring coach is looking forward to taking on the NYL team as well as plying his trade under club head coach Paul Okon, assisting with the A-League squad.

"I've really enjoyed my time with the Mariners on the Coast so far,” Cahn said in a club press release.

"It's been a challenging NPL season for many reasons but it's given me a great background into the culture and environment we have here on the Central Coast. There are certain names from our academy teams that have been pencilled in to the FNYL squad but we are also very open to expanding our network and playing group so we will commence an open trial process that will allow us to look at not only players from NSW but also from interstate as well.”

Cahn took Noosa to within a whisker of reaching the FFA Cup proper in 2015.
