Bulls slap Rose with fine for missing game

NBA player Derrick Rose has reportedly been fined $267,000 after missing the New York Knicks' defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans for unknown reasons.

Rose worked out with the Knicks at their morning shoot-around on Tuesday ahead of the New Orleans game, but then they announced as the game was starting that he was not with the team. Centre Joakim Noah said he spoke to Rose after the game and that he was okay.

According to the New York Post, Rose - whose wage is $US21 million - was fined $US200,000.

"The team fined him a pretty hefty amount - the amount of the fine for missing a game,” Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said.

Rose said he missed the game due to a family matter. He returned for the Knicks yesterday, scoring 25 points as his side was beaten 98-97 by the Philadelphia 76ers.
