Brothers hunker down for next six games at home
BROTHERS co-captain Sam Krueger will be without fellow leader Jack Boettcher when the club hosts Swifts tomorrow from 3pm.
Brothers coach Jason Connors has spent the week in Townsville for the Confraternity Cup but will fly home in time for the game.
With a late-season push well under way for Brothers, Connors said six straight home games would put last year’s grand finalists in a good position ahead of the finals.
“It comes with having a regular side on the park,” he said. “We’ve still got injuries though and that run could end tomorrow.
“This will be only our third game at home this season but with six in row now we’ll be looking to get up and get a win at home.”
Assistant coach Wade Liddell has been putting the players through their paces and with Connors filing in for the Brothers halves will once again run the show from the sidelines.
“Wade has had experience in Queensland Cup and knows what to bring on or off during the game,” Connors said.
“Nothing really changes, it’s just about getting the boys up each week and we share that role.”
Swifts coach Steven O’Connell will welcome back forward Zeb Nuuola, winger Francis Renouf and hooker Kurtis Lingwoodock for this weekend’s clash.
“Hopefully the return of those guys will help us after a couple of bad weeks,” O’Connell said.
“Everyone knew Brothers would finish the season hard but we’ll just concentrate on ourselves.
“That’s our focus.”
Goodna Eagles v Norths Tigers from 6pm tonight at Woogaroo Field.
