Brothers homecoming for versatile new coach

CRICKET: Brothers Cricket Club has appointed Ipswich stalwart Brian Andrews club coach for the fast approaching 2018/2019 season.

Brothers club president Leo Conway was delighted to see Andrews accept the offer and share his years of experience.

"It's fantastic to have a coach of Brian's quality and knowledge helping the club through this season,'' Conway said.

"It is a sort of a home- coming. Brian is a former A-Grade player, A Grade premiership-winning captain, past president and valued life member of our club.

"Everyone at the club is excited he has decided to return to coach.''

Andrews welcomed the opportunity at Brothers.

"To be able to catch up with, and work with the senior players, many of whom I have known for over 20 years, will be really good,'' Andrews said.

"But I'm most excited with the group of young players coming through the club ranks.

"I see it as a goal to try to get some of the young men up to A-Grade standard so they can carry the club forward."

Training starts at 9am on Sunday at the Brothers Leagues Club nets.
