Broncos see off Titans to keep their season alive
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Brisbane Broncos are through to next week's NRL semi-finals after a 44-28 elimination final win over the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium.
The Titans led 18-16 at the break but were on the back foot for much of the second half after big-money recruit Jarryd Hayne spilt the restart after half-time.
It was a tough night for the Titans, who were on the wrong end of several controversial refereeing decisions - including a penalty try to Jordan Kahu in the first half - and were hit with a raft of injuries to key players, including second-rower Zeb Taia in the warm-up and playmaker Ash Taylor before half-time.
Kahu, Corey Oates and Alex Glenn both scored doubles for the victors, while Chris McQueen also crossed twice for the Titans, who will now look ahead to next season.
