Scenic Rim's Bromelton landfill operational by October

SCENIC Rim councillors this week inspected progress on the construction of a new waste disposal cell at council's Bromelton central landfill facility.

The project, which is expected to be finished by October, is being delivered at a cost of about $2.5 million and will provide for the waste disposal needs of the region for the next five to six years.

The central landfill is the final disposal point for domestic rubbish collected from local kerbsides or trucked in from waste transfer stations at Boonah, Kalbar, Canungra, Rathdowney and Tamborine Mountain.

Scenic Rim Mayor John Brent said council had decommissioned landfill sites at Kalbar and Boonah and consolidated its landfill operation at Bromelton to improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
