Brit continues good form to win French Open

GOLF: England's Tommy Fleetwood struck a faultless five-under-par 66 to win the French Open by one shot ahead of American Peter Uihlein.

Fleetwood, 26, collected five birdies and no bogeys to finish at 12-under though Uihlein only just failed to force a playoff after making a late surge.

Uihlein, the overnight co-leader, was seeking his second career win and posted a three-under 68.

The American made a poor start, producing bogeys on holes four and five, before recovering superbly, sinking four birdies from the 11th to 17th. Ultimately, he managed only par on the 18th.

For Fleetwood, who finished fourth at the US Open last month, this was his third European Tour win and second of the year, after claiming the prestigious Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January ahead of Dustin Johnson and Pablo Larrazabal.

The win moved Fleetwood to the top of the Race to Dubai rankings.
