Brisbane beauty crowned Miss World Australia

COURTNEY Thorpe is a children's book author, stylist and budding journalist.

And now, the Brisbane beauty can add being crowned Miss World Australia 2014 to her list of achievements.

On Sunday night, after a hectic four days of competition which saw her competing in a fitness endurance course, beach beauty photo shoot, fashion show, talent show and top model runway show, Ms Thorpe took out the title in the Hunter Valley, beating 42 talented women from across the country.

Her win is the second in a row for Queensland, with the 2013 winner Cairns beauty, Erin Holland.

The 24-year-old will now go on to represent Australia at the Miss World International Pageant in London later this year, when she will compete against beauties from more than 130 countries all vying for the title of Miss World.
