Investigation launched after pilot killed in plane crash

TRAGEDY has unfolded at the Gatton Airpark this morning with a Lockyer Valley local killed in an ultra-light aircraft crash.

Paramedics and police were called to the scene at the airport at 8.36am, with initial reports indicating the small aircraft had crashed at the facility at Continental Crt.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said three crews were assigned to the incident.

A spokesman for Recreational Aviation Australia (RAAus) confirmed the organisation would work with authorities to investigate how the tragic accident unfolded.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the Forensic Crash Unit was on the scene, however would not be primary investigators into the incident.
