Man in serious condition after boat explosion

UPDATE 4.25pm: 

THE man who was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital with burns to his hands, feet and face is in a serious condition. 

The 26-year-old man was airlifted from Hamilton Island after he was treated by paramedics at a medical centre on the island. 

It was reported the burns came from a boat explosion. 

EARLIER 2.45pm: 

THE man who has suffered burns after a reported boat explosion at Hamilton Island is currently minutes away from landing at Mackay Base Hospital. 

The man has burns to his hands, feet and face. 

Queensland Ambulance Service was called to a medical clinic at Hamilton Island to treat him at 11.10am. 

RACQ CQ Rescue has now picked up the man and is airlifting him to the hospital. 

INITIAL 2.25pm:

A MALE in his 20s has suffered burns to his hands, feet and face after a boat explosion at Hamilton Island.

Queensland Ambulance Service is treating the man.

A QAS media spokesperson said the man is at a medical clinic and waiting for a helicopter to airlift him off Hamilton Island.
