Stolen car: Woman used stolen licence for test drive

UPDATE 9:16am: Local police have confirmed the licence originally supplied for the test drive did not belong to the suspect.

A photograph of the license supplied was originally posted on the "Gympie Information, Advice and Discussions" Facebook page.

Police stress the suspect in the theft is not the woman depicted in the licence.

BREAKING: A car allegedly stolen during a test-drive this afternoon has been seen headed towards Imbil.

The black Hyundai Veloster with the registration number 244WNR was allegedly taken as the driver and passenger were swapping places in the car.

"We'd just pulled over and she had sat down in the driver's seat," says Ali Zengin from Madill used cars.

"As I went around the car to get back in she took off like a bullet."

Mr Zengin says the price stickers are still currently attached to the vehicle.

"I've never seen anything like this in my 25 years of selling cars."

Gympie police are currently investigating the incident.

Witnesses are asked to contact either Gympie police on 5480 1111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
