POLICE have confirmed that a 14-year-old hit by a car on Moore Park Rd on Friday died in Brisbane today.

Initial information provide to the NewsMail indicated he had died in Brisbane's Lady Cilento Children's Hospital late on Saturday night.

UPDATE: 12.15pm

THE 14-year-old teenager at the centre of yesterday's traffic crash has been flown to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

A QAS spokeswoman said the boy suffered significant head injuries.

"He was very unwell when we got there," she said.

The teenager was stabilised at the scene before paramedics rushed him to Bundaberg Hospital before he was transported to Brisbane.

UPDATE: 7.40pm: Moore Park Rd has been reopened.

UPDATE 6pm: The inbound lane of Moore Park Rd remains closed following a serious crash where a 14-year-old boy was hit by a car while riding a dirt bike.

The outbound lane is under traffic control.

UPDATE 5.30pm: A 14-year-old boy is in hospital in a critical condition following a crash on Moore Park Rd.

UPDATE 5pm: The boy has been transported to hospital.

UPDATE 4.40pm: Moore Park Rd has been closed to traffic following the crash.

UPDATE 4.30pm: A teenager riding a dirt bike on Moore Park Rd has collided with a car. 

Ambulance crews are attempting to stabilise the teen with the aim of transporting him to hospital.

It is believed he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

EARLIER: Crews have rushed to the aid of a boy hit by a car on Moore Park Rd.

It is believed before 4pm today, the boy was struck by a car and was knocked unconscious. 

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said there were two ambulance crews at the scene.
