Breach of parole put man in prison

SIX days after he was disqualified from driving by a court order, Peter John Boyle got behind the wheel of a car and was caught driving around with dangerous drugs.

The 20-year-old was picked up at Oxley on February 17 and has been in custody since.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Boyle had been sentenced to 18 months for assault causing harm on June 14 last year, and was on parole.

He has a "passion for cars" and was on his way to pick up parts when pulled over about 10.30am.

Police found he had 3.2g of amphetamine in his possession and was driving an unregistered and uninsured car.

His parole was suspended and he has been in prison since.

He pleaded guilty to disqualified driving, possessing dangerous drugs and two other traffic matters and was fined $2250 and disqualified for six months.
