Brassall crowd in tune with season

THOUSANDS of residents turned out to enjoy the spectacular Brassall's Christmas in the Park on a beautiful Ipswich night on Friday.

Adults and children were enthralled with the entertainment and stalls.

Thomas Doherty, from the smash hit musical, Billy Elliott, was a crowd favourite. Santa's arrival was met with enthusiasm too.

The free community celebration in Sutton Park has run for 17 years and has been a tradition rarely missed for many Ipswich families.

It was a moving spectacle to see families stretched out on their rugs with their children enjoying quality time together.

Katrina Taylor was her with seven-month- old daughter India and 10-year-old nephew Riley.

"It is a lot of fun. It is India's first carols and we are having a good night," she said.

"We come every year with the family."

Riley was also getting into the spirit of the evening.

"I like the rides and the songs...and the fairy floss," he said.

Sharmell Westaway was there with her three nieces, Tilly-Kate, Haylee and Ruby, enjoying the celebrations.

"It is a really good family outings," she said.
